A. YOUTH EMPOWERMENTCommemoration of the International Youth Day held in collaboration with Agbado Okeodo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State on August 12, 2009 with the empowerment of more than 400 youths in the LCDA. Sewing machines, grinding machines, bursaries and loans were given to several youths. Crutches and wheel chairs were also presented to disabled younger people. The occasion witness attendance of over 1,000 persons made up of youth and adults, representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development and the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry. An International Participant, Mrs. Ann Gbenjo who is an Attorney at Law from Houston
Texas, USA
was also in attendance at the occasion. HEALTH ENHANCEMENT AND LONGEVITY PROGRAM (HELP). 1. Commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking on June 26, 2009: Marked by visitation to the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba Lagos to appreciate the contributions of the establishment for caring for mentally ill patients due to drug addiction. Food items, toiletries, drugs and cash donations were given to the organization by WODIA. Organizations that supported WODIA are: Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Lagos, Bel-Impex Limited (Member of Boulos Group of Companies), P.Z. Industries, and GlaxoSmithKline PLC.

2. Commemoration of the International Day of Families on May 15, 2009. Marked in collaboration with the Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Lagos, (LCDA) with a seminar on Prevention of Diseases That Cause Sudden Death among Children and Adults.The Medical Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya who delivered lectures on the subject, ably represented the Lagos State Commissioner for Health. Other resource persons were Dr. Sodipo (Representing Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH), Dr. Paul Meijeh (representing Nigeria Medical Association) and others. Attendance was over 250 people from Igbogbo Baiyeku LCDA. 3. Commemoration of the World Health Day on April 7, 2009. Marked with a seminar on the Causes and Treatment of Arthritis and other Bone Diseases held in collaboration with the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos (NOHIL). Program was held at NOHIL with the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Wahab Yinusa in attendance. Resource Persons were consultants from NOHIL. Attendance comprising of corporate audience and representatives from all Local Government Areas of Lagos
State was over 500 people.

Commemoration of the International Day For The Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, 2008. Marked with a seminar on Health Information To Prolong Life at Hall 36, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health, World Health Organization (WHO), LUTH, United Nations Information Center (UNIC) and Lagos State Ministry of Justice. Attendance numbered over 200 people.
5. A seminar on Health Information To Promote Long Life held on July 29, 2008 held in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). In attendance was the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Dr. Femi Olugbile. Attendees including the representatives of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, the State commissioners for Environment, Women Affairs and Poverty
Alleviation and others numbered over 600 people. 6. HIV/AIDS, Maternal Health and Disease Prevention- Since 2005, WODIA has involved in Enhancing Environmental Friendliness, Care for the Aged, Counseling Girls Against Prostitution and Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV/AIDS Transmission. WODIA mobilizes support for Home Based HIV/AIDS patients, children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, implements activities that reduce stigmatization of People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWA), Drug Addiction, Malaria and Maternal Mortality. ---From Health Neglect ---To Health Care

POVERTY-REDUCTION WODIA implemented two phases of Micro-credit sustainability and Poverty Reduction project from December 11, 2007 to March 25, 2008. Seminars were held on same Theme and Topic in five different locations in Lagos State namely: Multipurpose Hall of LTV 8, Ikeja; Onigbongbo Local Government Secretariat, (Ikeja); Sandgrouse Market (Lagos Island), Suenu Palace, (Adeniji Adele) and Alade Market, (Ikeja) during the project period. As at date more than 900 traders have benefited from small-scale loans as a result of this WODIA’s economic initiatives.

FUTURE (SELF)
The Self Employment for Leadership in Future (SELF) is a skill acquisition programfor underserved people. It is an initiative that enhances self-employment forfuture leadership. Through sponsorships from philanthropists, WODIA hasbeen involved in the vocational training of indigent and out-of schoolyouths in various trades to empower them for self-reliance.
