The chairman, Women Development International Association (WODIA), Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Egbeoluwa welcomed all the guests and informed the house that the motive for organizing the seminar was to alleviate absolute poverty in Nigeria .She reconciled the action plan with research evidence which confirmed that Micro Credit delivery to the grassroots is a major poverty reduction instrument. She went further to analyze the manifestations of poverty in the country with the attendant negative effects on women, children, family and the larger society. The Chairman encouraged all participants to seize the golden opportunities to obtain financial support from Citiserve MicroFinance Bank Limited to improve their personal lives and businesses. ---CHAIRMAN OF THE OCCASION Dr. (Mrs.) Edith Olaitan Thomas gave her opening remarks, encouraged all men and women to be extremely hard working and be fearless in their pursuits for excellence .She stated that people who were optimistic usually excel in their Endeavors and specifically advised the women to be wealth contributors rather than wealth consumers. The chairperson who is over seventy years of age is an experienced medical practitioner of high repute. She lifted the occasion with her maturity and conducted the occasion with remarkable intelligence. ---THE COMMISSIONER, MINISTRY OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, LAGOS STATE. Mr. J.F.Aremu represented the Hon. Commissioner of Commerce and industry, Lagos State. In his goodwill message, the commissioner analyzed the relevance of financial support in any business development, emphasizing that lack of it had resulted into personal and organizational underdevelopment. He further expressed the unreserved support of the Lagos State government for any action that would alleviate poverty and improve the living conditions of the masses. The commissioner thanked members of WODIA for organizing the forum and encouraged the Association not to relent in her effort in implementing economic advancement programs. ---THE PERMANENT SECRETARY, BUREAU OF TRANSPORT (BOT) OGUN STATE. The permanent secretary BOT, Ogun State, Dr. (Engr). M.A Egbeoluwa was in attendance personally and made a presentation on ‘ Making Money in Transportation’ He took his time to explain in detail various money-making ventures in transportation industry. These according to him, involve investments into parking meters, motorcycles, minibuses, commercial taxi cars, water transportation and several others. The permanent secretary informed the house that with just 10 percent deposit of the total cost of each of the items, The Ogun State government would release any of the transportation products to the people for commercial purposes and allow the re- payment spread over a period of time. He even invited Messrs Citiserve Microfinance Bank Limited to invest into Transportation business saying that “it is a worthwhile venture”. His presentations were made with high technology electronics demonstration. ---THE ORAL PRESENTATIONS OF CITISERVE MICRO FINANCE BANK LTD This was led by Dr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Ogunbiyi Group head, Business Development and Treasury. She explained that the activities of her organization were grassroots focused adding that Citiserve Micro Finance Bank Limited has solutions to all the financial needs of the masses. She encouraged all participants to establish accounts with her organization and gave the assurance that her bank is financially sound and competent to finance any viable business in small and medium scale enterprises. Dr (Mrs.) Ogunbiyi handed over further illustrations to her colleague Mr. Damilare Ajulo who explained the various financial products of the Bank. Accolades rented the air and in no time participants were seen registering their names with the marketing team of the Bank. ---CO CHAIRMAN Lady Olulanu Ayoola, Managing Director of All Season’s Plaza Property Company Limited commented on the impressive presentation of Citiserve officials and encouraged the participants, especially women to ensure that the benefits of the forum were fully harnessed D.PUBLICITY Representatives of the mass media comprising of the print and electronics media were in attendance to cover the seminar. They included Radio Lagos/ Eko FM, LTV8, Daily Independent NewsPaper, Breaking News , Punch Newspapers, News agency of Nigeria and others. Two State Governments, Ogun and Lagos were represented. The hall was good, well located, accessible, comfortable , spacious, well ventilated and gave the occasion the desired status. Enough Snacks, cold Minerals and chilled bottled Capitol Water were served and satisfying. Mode of presentation of the speakers was above average and original. The publicity given the occasion is positive and the image of Citiserve Microfinance Bank was fully enhanced. The forum was educative and informative. Every participant had something to learn or benefit which made the gathering a worthwhile outing. Many participants are already contacting WODIA to express appreciation for being invited to the occasion and are making further inquiries on how to open permanent accounts with Ctiserve Microfinance Bank Limited. In practical life, more success is achieved with greater emphasis. It is thus recommended that Citiserve Microfinance Bank participates in like occasions for continued acceptability and patronage of the organization.
